A cheerful bit of barnyard for the kitchen counter. This little cow stands on four stout legs in a glossy, tangerine-bright glaze, head up and ears perked — and she's every bit as useful as she is fun. Her back opens into a roomy oval well, and a raised slot at her shoulders stands a fan of napkins upright. One cow can keep a sponge by the sink, a handful of flatware, or the small odds and ends that always drift toward the counter. Hand-painted black tips on her horns, ears, hooves, and tail give her that farmhouse look.
  • Figural standing cow with an open-back well plus an upright napkin slot — a multipurpose holder
  • Glossy bright-orange glaze with hand-painted black accents on horns, ears, hooves, and tail
  • Works as a sponge caddy, utensil crock, napkin holder, small planter, or countertop catchall
  • Approx. 7"L x 5"H x 3.5"W; unmarked ceramic
  • Came to us from a Hobbsville, North Carolina estate

Orange Ceramic Cow Holder — Farmhouse Kitchen Caddy for Sponge, Utensils & Napkins

Contemporary

Farmhouse Figural Novelty

This bright orange cow is a contemporary farmhouse piece, built to be useful and to make a kitchen smile at the same time. Her body opens into an oval well, and a raised slot at her shoulders stands napkins upright, so one small cow can hold a sponge by the sink, a bundle of flatware, a stack of napkins, or a little potted plant. The glossy glaze and the hand-painted black tips on her horns, ears, hooves, and tail give her that warm, hand-finished country look.

She came to us from a Hobbsville, North Carolina estate, one of those kitchens where the useful things were allowed to be cheerful too and a bit of whimsy sat comfortably beside the practical. The piece is unmarked, with no maker's stamp — the kind of good-humored, hardworking accent that quietly earns its keep and makes a room feel a little more welcoming.

Materials Glazed ceramic with a glossy bright-orange finish and hand-painted black accents on the horns, ears, hooves, and tail.
Care Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry well. Hand wash only; avoid soaking, harsh abrasives, and the dishwasher. Line the well before holding a wet sponge or plant.

Some pieces just make a kitchen friendlier, and this orange cow is one of them. She's a sturdy, four-footed charmer — head lifted, ears out, a gentle smile molded into her muzzle — finished in a glossy glaze the color of a ripe tangerine. For all her personality, she's a genuine little workhorse. Her whole back opens into a generous oval well, deep enough to put to work a dozen ways, and a raised slot at her shoulders holds a fan of napkins upright. Set her by the sink with a sponge tucked in her back, stand a fistful of forks and spoons in the well, or plant a small succulent and let her be the friendly face on the windowsill. Off duty, she's just as happy corralling keys, matchbooks, and the little things that gather by the back door. The finish is what gives her character. Under the bright glaze, soft black has been hand-painted onto the high points — the tips of her horns and ears, her little hooves, and the end of her tail — for that warm farmhouse feel, done on purpose. She came to us from a Hobbsville, North Carolina estate, one of those kitchens where the useful things were allowed to be cheerful too, and a bright animal on the counter earned its keep every day.
