This is Avon's 1985 Rocking Horse Pin, and it's never left the card it was carded on — factory-sealed under the blister, gold hang cord still up top, waiting on a coat collar that never came calling. A carved-wood-look horse with a navy polka-dot saddle and a fine gold-tone chain bridle, small enough to be a secret until someone spots it.

Avon's 1985 Rocking Horse Pin, still sealed on its original round card — a molded wood-look horse with a blue polka-dot saddle and a fine gold-tone chain bridle, poised on a bright red rocker beneath a clear blister, the gold hang cord threaded through the top. The card is marked © Avon 1985 and notes it was created in British Hong Kong, exclusively for Avon Products.

It came to us from a Hobbsville, North Carolina estate — one of those small seasonal treasures that made the rounds of December year after year. Never opened, it's a charming, well-kept bit of 1980s Avon holiday jewelry, ready for a lapel or a collector's Christmas shelf.

A rocking horse is a promise more than a toy — the ride you take without ever leaving the nursery. Avon caught that in 1985 and shrank it down to something you could pin to a lapel, and this one came to us from a Hobbsville, North Carolina estate still sealed on its round card, exactly as it was carded almost forty years ago. The horse has that carved-wood look Avon did in molded resin — a warm tan grain, a navy polka-dot saddle, and a thread-fine gold-tone chain for a bridle, all balanced on a bright red rocker. It's the kind of small, cheerful thing that ended up wrapped and tucked into more than a few December stockings. What makes this one worth stopping for is simply that no one ever broke the seal. The blister's still tight, the gold cord's still threaded through the top, the card's still bright. Sealed, unworn, and every bit as ready to give as the day it shipped.
