Ceramic Owl Planter with Faux Succulent — Lime Green Glaze, Small Figural Pot

Vintage

Figural Owl Planter

Most of the North Carolina estate this came from was built on serious, careful collecting — considered pieces, chosen with an eye and kept with intent. And then there was this: a plump little owl in a glaze so bright it practically hums. Among quieter, more studied things, it reads like a single cheerful note held a beat longer than the rest.

There's a lightheartedness to it that feels deliberate — a piece picked for no better reason than the pure pleasure of its color. True chartreuse, glossy and springlike, the kind of green that lifts a corner of a room without asking permission. It is the playful exception in an otherwise thoughtful collection, proof that even the most particular eye keeps a little room for plain, uncomplicated joy. We love it for exactly that: a small, sunny thing, kept because it made someone smile.

Materials Molded glazed ceramic stoneware in a glossy lime/chartreuse glaze with faint crackle and an unglazed buff foot rim; faux echeveria-style succulent included.
Care Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Display indoors away from knocks. The faux succulent needs no water; a light dusting keeps it fresh.

Some pieces in a collection are there to be studied. This one was there to make somebody smile. It came out of a North Carolina estate built around serious, careful collecting — and then there was this. A plump little owl in a vivid lime-green glaze, bright as a new leaf, sitting among quieter things like a single loud note in an otherwise hushed room. You get the sense whoever owned it bought it for no reason other than pure pleasure. Not every good thing needs a justification. Sometimes the color alone is the point. And what a color. This is true chartreuse — glossy, springlike, cheerful in a way that's almost impossible to be glum around. The owl itself is all charm: embossed rosette eyes like little sunbursts, a small triangular beak, and molded feather detail across a round, chunky body. It's the sort of thing you set down and then catch yourself grinning at later. Best part — it comes already styled. A faux echeveria-style succulent sits tucked into the top, a soft green rosette that picks up right where the glaze leaves off. Set it down and you're done. No watering, no sunny windowsill, no keeping anything alive. The succulent is included and ready to display straight away. A few honest notes on the finish: there's a faint crackle in the glaze and an unglazed buff rim along the foot. Both are intended — the quiet touches that keep a molded piece like this from looking factory-flat. This is a decorative cachepot, glazed solid through the base, meant to be admired rather than watered.

A small, sunny thing chosen for the simple joy of it. There are worse reasons to bring something home. Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The glossy glaze is clean throughout, with the faint crackle and unglazed foot rim noted above as part of the intended finish.
