Lenox Rose Manor Scalloped Candy Dish — 5.5" Ivory China with 24k Gold Trim
Circa 1986–2000
American Fine China
Lenox is the great American porcelain story. Founded in Trenton, New Jersey in 1889, it set out to prove the United States could produce china to stand beside Limoges and Meissen — and succeeded so thoroughly that it became the first American china chosen for White House state service. A small Lenox piece carries that pedigree at an approachable scale. This bowl wears the Rose Manor pattern, made between 1986 and 2000: pink rosebuds trailing on slender branches across an ivory china body, scattered green leaves, and a scalloped, fluted rim banded in hand-applied 24k gold. The gold circled-O backstamp dates it to Lenox's modern giftware era.
It came to us from an estate near Woodbridge, Virginia — one of those households that clearly knew how to keep fine things, and did. The glaze is clean, the gold bright, the little dish unmarked by hard use. At five and a half inches across, it is the useful size: candy or nuts at the table, olives beside a drink, or a quiet catch-all on the dresser for rings and earrings at the end of the day. Lenox on the same shelf as the European houses — American-made, and made to last.
