1990s Porcelain / Ceramic Good

A generous square charger from Tracy Porter, where all the drama lives in the sculpture rather than the color. A full blown rose, curling leaves, and clusters of fruit rise in crisp white-on-white relief from a finely textured ground of tiny blossoms, the whole framed by a beaded, scalloped rim. At 15.5 inches square, it is built to hold court at the center of a table — or to stand on a plate rail and catch the light.
  • Maker: Tracy Porter — script backstamp, marked "Hand Painted"
  • Form: large square charger / serving platter, ~15.5" x 15.5"
  • Design: sculpted white-on-white relief — rose, leaves, fruit, and a fine floral ground
  • Rim: beaded, gently scalloped edge
  • Glaze: glossy cream-white ceramic
  • Era: likely 1990s–2000s
Condition: Excellent. The glaze is bright and intact, with no chips, cracks, or repairs — just a few tiny kiln specks and a little grit around the unglazed foot ring, the honest fingerprints of hand-finished ceramic. Ready for the table.

Tracy Porter Hand-Painted White Embossed Platter — 15.5" Square Rose & Fruit Charger

Circa 1990s–2000s

Romantic Embossed Serveware

Tracy Porter made her name through the 1990s and 2000s designing homeware with a romantic, hand-finished sensibility — pieces meant to turn an ordinary table into an occasion. This large square charger is one of them, and its beauty lives entirely in the sculpted relief rather than in color: a full blooming rose, broad curling leaves, and clusters of fruit rise from an allover ground of tiny embossed blossoms, all under a single glossy cream glaze and framed by a beaded, scalloped rim. The underside carries her script backstamp and the words "Hand Painted."

A platter this size was made for feeding people. It comes to us from an estate where it clearly earned its keep as a hostess's centerpiece — the kind of generous piece that anchors a holiday spread, holds a stack of scones at brunch, or stands on a plate rail catching the light when it isn't on the table. White-on-white and sculptural, it flatters whatever it holds and asks for nothing in return, ready to gather a table around all over again.

Materials Glazed ceramic with heavy relief-molded (embossed) decoration; glossy cream-white glaze throughout; beaded scalloped rim; hand-finished production ware.
Care Hand wash with mild soap and a soft cloth; avoid abrasive scrubbers and sudden temperature changes. Best enjoyed as a serving and display piece rather than in the dishwasher or microwave.

Some pieces are made to be passed around a crowded table, and this is one of them. Tracy Porter built her name through the 1990s and 2000s on homeware with a romantic, hand-finished touch, and this large square charger is pure Porter — except that here she let the sculpture do all the talking. There is no painted color to distract you. Instead, a full blooming rose, broad curling leaves, and clusters of ripe fruit rise in crisp white-on-white relief from an allover ground of tiny embossed blossoms, everything wrapped in a beaded, gently scalloped rim. At 15.5 inches square it is a true statement size — the platter you reach for when there are people to feed and a table to set beautifully. Heap it with roast and greenery for a holiday spread, stack it with scones and fruit for a lazy brunch, or let it rest empty on a plate stand where the low relief throws its own soft shadows. Tone-on-tone and quietly architectural, it flatters whatever it holds and never competes with it. The underside carries her familiar script backstamp and the words "Hand Painted," a nod to the hand-applied glaze that gives these pieces their warmth.

Condition: Excellent. The glaze is bright and fully intact, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. A few tiny kiln specks in the glaze and a little grit around the unglazed foot ring are the normal marks of hand-finished ceramic and show only on close inspection. It displays and serves beautifully, ready to gather a table around again.
