A little owl who came up from a gardener's estate, where he kept company with the plants and clearly held his own. Big round eyes, two pointed ear tufts, a brow that means business — he's all personality. Set a small succulent in him and he goes right back to doing what he was made for. Highlights & Details:
  • Ceramic owl planter / small succulent pot — open top with a drainage hole in the base
  • About 3.5" high by 3.5" wide — chunky, round, and satisfyingly solid
  • Dusky sage-to-celadon green glaze with an allover crackle (craquelure) — a decorative glaze effect, glossy and soft
  • Embossed owl face, raised brow, and a scalloped, scaled feather pattern across the belly
  • Stoneware body, with felt pads on the base
Condition: Excellent — eyes, ear tufts, rim, belly, and base all intact, no chips or cracks. The fine crackle across the glaze is meant to be there.

Ceramic Owl Planter — Dusky Green Celadon Crackle Glaze, Small Succulent Pot, 3.5"

Vintage

Figural Decorative Planter

This little owl planter comes from a single estate in Hobbsville, North Carolina, where the collector kept a genuine garden — the kind of gardener who knew her plants by name and saved the sunny spots for the ones that earned them. A small figural planter like this fit right into that world, holding a succulent on a potting bench or watching over a windowsill of green.

He is molded rather than thrown, but personality has nothing to do with the wheel. Big round eyes, a furrowed brow, two pointed ear tufts, and a scalloped feather pattern across the belly give him real character, and the dusky sage-to-celadon glaze deepens it. The fine crackle webbing across the surface is craquelure done on purpose — a decorative glaze effect, not damage — and it lends the green a soft, lit-from-within depth. Open at the top with a drainage hole below, he is ready to go back to work for the next gardener who gives him a sunny corner.

Materials Stoneware with a glossy dusky-green celadon glaze and an intentional allover crackle (craquelure); molded figural owl form, open top, drainage hole in the base.
Care Indoor decorative use is gentlest. If planted, water lightly and empty any saucer promptly. Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh abrasives, freezing, and sudden temperature changes.

This little owl comes from a single estate in Hobbsville, North Carolina, where someone kept a real garden — the kind of person who knew her plants by name and gave the good ones the sunny spots. A planter like this doesn't end up in a house like that by accident. He earned his place on the potting bench. And he's got the face for it. Big round eyes, a brow furrowed into a permanent look of mild concern, two small ear tufts standing at attention. Across the belly runs a scalloped, scaled feather pattern, the kind of detail that catches the light when you turn him. He's molded, not thrown — but charm doesn't come off a wheel, and this one has plenty. The glaze is the thing that stops you, though. A dusky green that drifts from soft sage to celadon, glossy, with a fine crackle webbing across the whole surface. That crackle is a decorative glaze effect — craquelure, done on purpose — not damage. It gives the green a depth it wouldn't have plain, like the light is coming from a little way under the surface. The top is open and the base has a drainage hole, so he's ready to work. Tuck in a small succulent or let something trailing spill over the rim. He'd be just as happy on a sunny windowsill as he was on that gardener's bench — keeping an eye on things, the way owls do. Details:
  • Ceramic owl planter / small succulent pot, open top with a drainage hole
  • About 3.5" high by 3.5" wide — chunky and round
  • Dusky sage-to-celadon green crackle glaze — an intentional decorative craquelure effect, not damage
  • Embossed owl face with large round eyes, raised brow, ear tufts, and a scalloped feather pattern on the belly
  • Stoneware body, felt pads on the base
Condition: Excellent throughout.  — No chips, no cracks, no glaze loss. The fine crackle across the surface is the glaze doing what it's supposed to do.
